A: Traditional wedding-shower styles have paved the way to many other themed wedding shower ideas; however if you want to stick to the tried and true, here are the basics:
Women-only style shower. This type of shower is usually thrown in a home and can range from serving brunch, lunch, or dinner. The bride will spend some time with her favorite lovely ladies, as well as play a few games, and open the generous gifts the guests have given.
Couples wedding shower. This co-ed wedding-shower soiree can range from lunch to dinner and is very similar to that of the women-only shower. You should keep in mind that the games should include men as well, and that the groom may be thrilled to receive something he selected on the registry.
Office wedding shower. Your best buds at your workplace may want to throw you a shower; it can be held just about anywhere -- from one of their homes, to a make-shift café in the largest conference room at work. It is usually a smaller, shorter version of a women-only shower.
Restaurant wedding shower. Showers can range from brunch or dinner, to an afternoon tea, and restaurants have long been a convenient and fun place to hold a shower. Typically, games are still played and the highlight remains to be the opening of the gifts.
Showers and gifts are customary, not obligatory -- the real purpose is to wish the couple many years of happiness and to celebrate their upcoming marriage. Cheers!
