A: A spa shower may just be what the bride needs before her big day. Here are our tips on how to plan a relaxing, pampering day.
Where To Go. Select a location that the majority of your guests can get to easily. This can be a local spa, or it can be a room in your home (where you invite professionals to perform treatments). If you're having a small shower with just a few close friends, you can always plan a weekend spa getaway. If you've decided to hold your shower at a spa, call and make sure they will accommodate your shower (this is also the time to negotiate a great group discount).
What To Wear. If you're hosting the shower at a spa, loose and cute terry sweats and flip-flops are perfect. If you're hosting the shower at your home, you can request that guests arrive in pajamas or clothes comfortable for pampering.
What To Do. Manicures, pedicures, facials, and massages are all great treatments to consider. Manis and pedis work well for larger, less intimate groups and for those who are new to spas. If you decide to host a spa shower at your home, be sure to create a comfortable and accommodating setting, complete with soothing tunes.
What To Eat. Stay true to the theme by serving spa-like cuisine, such as fruits, veggies, finger sandwiches, herbal tea, and mineral water. If you're hosting the shower at a spa, ask in advance if you can bring platters of food, or if they have menu options. If you're having an all-day spa shower, have everyone gather in the middle of the day for a light lunch and/or cake and some good old-fashioned gift opening. If you're having a shorter shower, do it at the end of the day instead.
